A Short History of Tempel Studios
Tempel Studios, began in the fall of 2003 with our first project being a short western movie for David Teubl's Potters school class on the American West. Since then we have started a feature length western film, and have done several other shorter films.
Tempel Studios started back in the year of 2003 when a short movie was created for David Teubl's Potter School class. David Teubl was taking an "American West" history class and was required to do a class project, the short movie was strictly a short film for depicting the Old American West. Those involved with the movie had a great time and enjoyed the acting and "stunt work" involved greatly. Shortly thereafter, someone came up with the idea of doing a full length movie. Since David knew the most about the West, having taken the course and being the one who had directed the project, he was asked whether he thought the idea feasible. David's response in his mind was "you have got to be kidding me." Carl Hempel thought it a fun way to spend the next summer and convinced David to at least try to put a script together. A few people proposed ideas about what the movie could be and all agreed that it should be about a man moving west. In April of 2004 the first filming started and it proved that the road would be as long for the character as it would before the actors and actresses as they tried to bring the West to the East.
How we got our miss-spelled name and our Logo.
Our name was suggested by Mrs. Teubl when we were trying to figure out a name for our "Studio". The name is derived from the "T" in Teubl and the "empel" in Hempel, creating Tempel for Tempel Studios. Our Logo was suggested by Emily Hempel, and was animated by Carl Hempel and David Teubl.
